Since 2018, Blue Room has been offering a discount on its studio headshot session to med-school students applying for residency. Your cost for a great headshot is only $125. WHY YOU SHOULD GET A PROFESSIONAL HEADSHOT FOR YOUR APPLICATION Did you know on average you are 14 times more likely to be picked for an interview if you have a professional headshot? Having a photo without professional lighting and backdrop can possibly hurt your chances of landing your dream residency program. At its simplest level, a professional headshot shows you care enough to invest in a professional portrait. |
What backdrop is best?
We strongly recommend that your residency portrait be taken on a light gray or white background. This background stands out more on the application as a thumbnail and is statistically more likely to be clicked on. And we have the perfect backdrop. :) What is the correct format for my ERAS headshot? ERAS specifications Your photograph must conform to the following technical specifications:

From Dylan Morgan,
2018 ERAS applicant:
Hey Cindy,
I ended up matching at my #1 residency choice. I am doing Internal Medicine at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. Please feel free to pass along my highest recommendation for your headshots to future applicants. Of note, I was told that at the end of application season, my program prints off every interviewee's picture and goes through them individually to create their rank list. So a professional, memorable picture is very important. Additionally, your picture is distributed among faculty and used for many of the orientation documents and activities until you have your new badge picture taken. So having a professional picture that leaves a good first impression goes a long way. Thanks again for your help!
Sincerely,
Dylan
