THE LONG VERSION
NOTE FROM OWNER, CINDY MCCRORY
I love flowers, beautiful manners, gorgeous dresses, wonderfully "done" hair, makeup, cake, and lovely spaces! Weddings include ALL of those things and I am in heaven when I am spending the day with a bride and groom at a decorated venue with their family and friends. My professional work includes a history of all kinds of photography: architecture, news, children, fashion.... and weddings require photography expertise in all of these things. Plus, in my super young years I was a film model and also did pageants (it was the thing back in the day) so I know what it is like to be on your side of the camera. I try my best to gently make my couples comfortable and relaxed, and at the same time confidently guide and direct members of the wedding party and family through the photographic timeline. Its always fun, and I can't wait to get back to the studio and take a peek at what I've captured! |
My natural editing style is photojournalistic realism but with brighter colors and an added bit of glamour. However, I also love the surreal, light and airy fairylike look and with certain brides and weddings, this works best. I have the editing skills to give you an edgy black and white, or a vintage kodachrome 50's retro look. We will talk about what you prefer, and if you simply want a combination, we can do it. I find life much more interesting meeting lots of different people and we all have our own "filters". So offering a diverse choice of looks from which you can choose, is always more interesting for us all! Look through my photographs on this site and you'll see the diversity of styles I can offer.
MY PHOTOGRAPHY STORY
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from New College at the University of Alabama, plus a Certificate of Photography from University of South Alabama. I was a student of film photography for years, and black and white film photography was my hobby! My hobby turned into a career beginning with a Communications Director position in the office of the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast. In addition to creating and managing the diocesan website, I took photographs in Episcopal churches across the Gulf Coast.
In 2010, I purchased my first professional level digital camera and started my wedding and portrait photography business from my home. I leased a studio space until COVIC came around, and decided to not renew the lease and moved my studio home. And it is nicer, roomier, and convenient.
TIME LAPSE OF A HEADSHOT SESSION IN MY HOME STUDIO
THE STUDIO STORY
The afternoon that a long awaited box arrived from Canon with my first PRO LEVEL CAMERA, I was so excited that I tore into the box and began walking around the neighborhood taking photos. I returned at dusk and all of the lights in my house were on, including the bedroom I was using as my editing room. The room's walls are a Martha Stewart color named named "Milk Paint" from Sherwin Williams. I also had small blueish halogen desk lights turned on. All of the windows in my house were glowing with the GE golden light except for the one window belonging to the office. The light coming from that window was SO BLUE. Quite honestly, it looked terrible from the street because it was so different from the other windows. BUT it ultimately served a purpose! I had been struggling with a name for my business, and although most people use their own name for their photography business, my business class at USA recommended using a third party name in case you want to ever sell the business or have children take it over at some point. So after seeing the blue room window, I lamely named my photography business BLUE ROOM PHOTOGRAPHY.
